Student Voice. Stronger communities.

At BSBI, student representation is an important part of campus life. It creates opportunities for students to contribute, collaborate and help shape a welcoming and inclusive community across every campus.

The Student Council brings together Course Representatives, club leaders and active student volunteers who work closely with Student Services and academic teams to represent the interests of the student community. Together, they encourage open communication, support student engagement and help create an environment where ideas and feedback lead to meaningful action.

Student needs and experiences remain at the centre of every Student Council initiative. From cultural celebrations and networking events to community projects and student engagement activities, the Council plays an active role in enriching the BSBI experience.

Whether studying in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Barcelona or Madrid, students have dedicated representatives who help strengthen connections across the BSBI community.

What Does the Student Council Do?

The Student Council is the first point of contact for student feedback and serves as the voice of the BSBI student community.

Working in partnership with Student Services, academic departments and operational teams, Council members help ensure that student feedback is heard and that new ideas contribute to the continuous development of campus life.

The Student Council:

  • represents the interests of students across all campuses
  • gathers feedback, ideas and suggestions from fellow students
  • promotes communication between students and BSBI
  • supports social, cultural and networking events
  • encourages participation in clubs, societies and volunteering opportunities
  • helps create an inclusive and welcoming campus community
  • shares important updates with students on behalf of BSBI

Regular meetings with BSBI teams ensure that student perspectives help shape future initiatives and strengthen the student experience across every campus.

Student Council Presidents are elected from active members of the Student Council.

Working closely with Student Services, they lead Council meetings, coordinate student initiatives and represent the wider student community. They help ensure that communication between students and BSBI remains open, collaborative and focused on enhancing the student experience.

Arts Club

Course & Class Representatives

Course and Class Representatives act as a bridge between students and faculty, ensuring every class has a voice.

Responsibilities:

  • Share student feedback with faculty
  • Collect input on courses, teaching, and assessments
  • Attend meetings with staff and Student Council
  • Support new students and provide guidance
  • Collaborate with clubs and Council for student engagement

Our volunteers are the heroes behind every event. They help organize, coordinate, and ensure smooth execution, making a positive impact on campus life.

What to expect throughout the year

Student life at BSBI runs year round. Alongside academic study, students take part in a regular calendar of activities that build skills, friendships and connections across every campus.

Company visits

Behind-the-scenes visits to partner organisations give students a first-hand look at how businesses operate, alongside networking opportunities with industry professionals.

Multicultural Events

With students from over 100 nationalities, BSBI marks the year with celebrations that showcase food, music and traditions from across the community.

Workshops

Regular workshops build practical skills, from career development and public speaking to creative and technical sessions run by staff, alumni and guest speakers.

Social events

Fresher’s parties, summer socials and casual meetups give students an easy way to unwind, meet new people and get to know their campus community.

Frequently asked questions

Students can stand for election as a Course Representative when positions become available. Representatives are elected by their classmates and become members of the Student Council.

The Student Council holds a regular monthly assembly.

Depending on the topics being discussed, representatives from Student Services, academic departments and operational teams join the meeting to discuss student feedback, campus initiatives and upcoming activities.

Course Representatives have the opportunity to:
  • raise feedback from their classes
  • discuss the academic and student experience
  • suggest new student engagement activities and community projects
  • propose cultural and social events
  • receive important updates to share with their classmates

Student Council meetings are chaired by the Student Council Presidents.

Course Representatives meet with the Student Council Presidents on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to discuss student feedback, upcoming events, activities and updates from BSBI.

Course Representatives normally remain in the role unless they choose to step down, become inactive or their course requests a new election.

Representatives who step down are encouraged to recommend a suitable replacement to help ensure continued representation for their cohort.

Representatives are expected to participate actively in Student Council meetings and discussions. If a representative becomes inactive, including missing two consecutive meetings without participating, the role may become vacant and a new representative may be elected.

Student Council members gain practical experience in leadership, communication, teamwork, event planning and project management. They also build valuable networks by working with students from different programmes, campuses and cultural backgrounds.

Yes. Active members of the Student Council are encouraged to stand in the Student Council Presidential Elections.

Presidential elections take place twice a year. To be eligible, candidates must have been active members of the Student Council for at least three months.

Student Services announces the Presidential Elections and invites eligible Student Council members to submit their nominations.

Following a period of campaigning, Student Council members vote to elect the Presidents. The election event is open for students to attend and the results are announced once voting has concluded.
