BSBI organises field trip to Pestana Hotel for the students

On 18 January, the BSBI Careers Service Team organised a field trip to the Pestana Hotel in Berlin for the students.

Pestana Hotel is in Tiergarten, Berlin and is part of the Pestana Hotel Group, the largest multinational group of Portuguese origin in the tourism industry. The group has presence in Europe, South America, and Africa, with more than 100 hotels and manages over 12,000 rooms under direct management, chosen by 3.5 million guests every year.

More than 20 BSBI students from both BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality Management (UCA) and MA Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (UCA) programmes attended the field trip. The trip was led by Martyna Zmijewska and Paul Tran from the Careers Service team, along with Moustafa Gaballa, Lecturer.

During the field trip, students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves about the processes, workflow, tasks, and responsibilities of various positions in the hospitality industry. They also attended a tour of the premises and presentation from Nosheen Talat, HR Business Partner and Fernando Carriço, General Manager at Pestana Berlin Tiergarten, followed by a Q&A session.

The trip provided an excellent opportunity for BSBI students to discover the Pestana Group and its many internship and working student opportunities in Berlin. Following the trip, students participated in a networking session with the hotel’s HR team, where food and drinks were served.
