Aspiring Entrepreneurs Explore Berlin’s Start-Up Scene at GGG Networking Session
On 2nd July, BSBI, Gisma and UE hosted a major information and networking session for young budding graduate entrepreneurs. Experts from Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, Berlin and Brandenburg Business Angels Club and BSBI explained how and why Berlin became one of Europe’s top start-up hubs, what resources were available for new founders, how students could tap into a thriving network of innovators, investors and support organisations and what is required from candidates who are looking to work for one of the many start-ups in town.
Award-winning young Berlin start-ups such as CanChip and Bearcover presented their journey from idea via seed funding to scaling up and expansion. Following the presentations, a mock pitch competition between teams from BSBI and UE took place in front of the expert jury made up of the guest speakers, start-up representatives and entrepreneurship academics.
After the main event, participants moved to the impressive BSBI rooftop terrace for a professional networking session with food and drinks served until late into the evening.

Michael Ferenc, Head of Careers at BSBI: “Berlin is the third largest destination for innovative start-ups in Europe and this industry employs 90,000 people, which represents a significant portion of the city’s economy and delivers most of the city’s English-speaking roles. This information session, attended by one hundred students and graduates from the three Schools, was devised to show what a unique location they are based in and to demonstrate how they can be effectively supported launching their own businesses or their careers in Berlin’s burgeoning start-up ecosystem.”
