The Faculty of Creative Industries at the International College (IC) in Amsterdam recently hosted an enriching event, IC Shorts, featuring the ‘Business Plan for Creatives’ programme.

Sixteen talented Art & Design students from BSBI Hamburg participated, showcasing exceptional dedication and innovation throughout the week-long event held from Monday 8 to Friday 12 April.

During the programme, students immersed themselves in a variety of activities, including insightful lectures, engaging excursions and hands-on activities, all aimed at fostering a deep understanding of business strategies within the creative industry. From analysing the marketing strategies of Amsterdam museums to dissecting the business models of art galleries, the BSBI students displayed a keen interest in exploring the intersection of art and commerce.

One of the students said: “Changing my perspective generally, I can now see businesses all around me, not just coffees, museums, etc., but analyse how they earn money.”

The highlight of the event was the thrilling ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation, where students presented meticulously crafted business plans to a panel of experts. This platform provided an opportunity for students to showcase their remarkable creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Dr Monika Klein, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Industries at BSBI Hamburg, said: “We are delighted to share the exciting news of the outstanding performance of BSBI Hamburg students during the ‘Business Plan for Creatives’ programme at IC Shorts Amsterdam. Their dedication and innovative thinking have truly impressed us all.”
