BSBI Faculty Member Joins Key AI Discussion at the Italian Embassy in Berlin
On 9th April, the Italian Embassy in Berlin hosted the high-level event “Artificial Intelligence for Industry: Research, Startups and Beyond,” bringing together experts from academia, industry, and policy to explore the evolving role of AI in society. Among the distinguished guests was Dr. Giulio Napolitano, a faculty member of the Computer Science and Informatics at Berlin School of Business and Innovation (BSBI).
Dr. Napolitano contributed to thought-provoking discussions on the future of education in the era of generative AI. He shared insights into how traditional learning models are undergoing radical transformation, proposing that lecturers may increasingly serve as overseers of AI-powered tutoring systems.
A critical theme during the event was the importance of embedding ethical considerations into AI development particularly in the context of global competition with major powers like China and the USA.
“I was encouraged to see that ethical, responsible AI was not only discussed, but central to the EU’s strategic outlook on the topic.” said Dr. Napolitano.

Dr. Farshad Badie, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics at BSBI added: “At the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics at BSBI, we place a strong emphasis on responsible AI and its implications for education and society. I’m proud that Dr. Napolitano’s participation reflects both his and our faculty’s commitment to shaping ethical frameworks around AI, especially as it increasingly intersects with how we teach and learn.”
Dr. Napolitano’s participation highlights BSBI’s growing presence in critical international conversations and its commitment to ensuring that innovation in education is guided by ethical and responsible principles.
