Students Explore Barcelona’s Design Legacy at Disseny Hub Museum Visit

Students from the BSBI Barcelona campus were treated to an insightful guided tour at the Design Museum of Barcelona (Museu del Disseny de Barcelona), exploring the acclaimed exhibition: “Do You Design or Do You Work? New Visual Communication. 1980–2003.”
The visit looked at the role of graphic design and branding in Spain’s post-Franco era, highlighting how visual communication helped elevate Barcelona’s global reputation as a design capital. Through posters, packaging and media from the 1980s to the early 2000s, students examined how creativity intersected with politics, culture and commerce to shape modern Spanish identity.
Francis Ejikeme Orisha from Nigeria, a Global MBA student from the English Route, described the visit as “a genuinely enriching experience,” noting that it “provided a meaningful connection between art, history and culture,” while also being “educational and inspiring.”
Fabián Niño from Colombia, part of the Global MBA Spanish Route, added: “These spaces allow us to broaden our vision and perspective on national and international culture. The tour brought us together as a team, and I hope initiatives like this continue to connect universities, businesses and the state.”
Organised with the support of BSBI Barcelona’s student services team, the tour was not only a cultural outing but also a learning opportunity aligned with the students’ academic journey in international business, branding and leadership.
As the creative spirit of Barcelona continues to shape global design thinking, visits like these offer students real-world context that complements their studies and helps forge deeper connections with the city they now call home.
