Through the collaboration, both institutions aim to equip students with global competencies by encouraging innovation, cross-cultural learning, and international academic engagement.
Focus on Student Mobility and Research
MIT-WPU highlighted that the alliance will create long-term opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers through exchange programmes and collaborative initiatives.
The institutions also plan to strengthen research partnerships and organise reciprocal academic visits to enrich learning experiences and deepen educational cooperation between India and Europe.
Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Learning
During his interaction with the MIT-WPU faculty, Prof. Dr Kyriakos Kouveliotis outlined the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education.
He emphasised that AI should be used responsibly to automate administrative tasks such as syllabus updates and document formatting, allowing educators to dedicate more time to mentoring students and improving meaningful classroom engagement.
Encouraging Global Education While Retaining Talent
Prof. Dr Kouveliotis noted the increasing participation of Indian students in German higher education institutions, observing that a significant proportion of students across the institutions he oversees come from India.
While recognising the value of international education, he stressed the importance of bringing world-class academic opportunities to India to encourage talented graduates to contribute to the country’s growth. He also acknowledged MIT-WPU’s Life Transformation Centre for promoting continuous learning and professional development.
Vision for Responsible Global Leadership
The collaboration reflects a shared vision of combining academic excellence with ethical values and global responsibility.
Prof. Dr Kouveliotis highlighted MIT-WPU’s emphasis on peace, harmony and conflict resolution, noting that this distinctive philosophy positions the university to contribute to innovation in areas such as healthcare, climate technologies, smart manufacturing and sustainable development while preparing globally responsible graduates.
