BSBI student takes second place at Berlin Energy Hackathon 2025

BSBI MA in Energy Management student, Thanakorn Thajan, secured second place at the prestigious Berlin Energy Hackathon 2025, organised by the European Energy Collective.

Challenged by Voltaic to optimise energy management for a 50-flat building with solar panels and battery systems, Thanakorn  Thajan developed an innovative full-stack platform that uses AI for real-time energy decisions, provides transparent resident data on consumption and savings, automates fair billing, and offers building managers a simple monitoring dashboard.

Under the guidance of Dr Ilter Aktas from BSBI’s Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, the solution impressed judges with its practical approach to green energy management.

“It is inspiring to see how our students translate classroom learning into real-world solutions within such a short amount of time.” said Dr Aktas.“This achievement is proof that with the right mix of academic guidance and creativity, BSBI students can deliver impactful ideas that matter for the future of sustainable energy.”

The success highlights BSBI’s commitment to providing industry-relevant academic support.
