BSBI Celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week 2026
From 11 to 15 May, BSBI School of Business and Innovation marked Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 with a series of workshops, creative activities, and wellbeing initiatives aimed at promoting self-awareness, resilience, and community connection among students and staff.
The programme included sessions led by external experts and BSBI colleagues. Mindfulness coach Beata Tschirch encouraged participants to practise self-compassion and approach challenges with kindness, while artist Janina Grünert introduced the calming benefits of macramé in a hands-on workshop focused on mindfulness and stress reduction. Dr Anoma Paksutti, Lecturer and Student Wellbeing Advocate, led a session combining breathing exercises with mandala painting to help participants stay present and cultivate calm.
The Student Welfare team also organised creative activities, including poster-making to raise mental health awareness and art and writing exercises that encouraged self-expression and reflection.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants describing the sessions as relaxing, inspiring, and supportive. The week reinforced BSBI’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where mental health is openly discussed, prioritised, and supported across the community.
