Barcelona is the only city that has ever received the Royal Gold Medal for its architecture. This is an annual award normally given to an individual or group. Barcelona received this medal in 1999. With so many fantastic buildings, it is no wonder that many people are drawn to Barcelona due to its fascinating architecture. Add the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Cathedral, Casa Mila and Casa Batlló to your sightseeing list!

With only 55 days of rain a year on average, and mild temperatures year-round, Barcelona has some of the best weather you can find anywhere in the world. On Spring, the weather is mild but a little bit unpredictable. During summer, the weather is hot and humid. Bring lightweight linen or cotton clothing and T-shirts for the summer months. During Autumn, the temperature starts to get cooler, but you can still enjoy sunny and warm weather some days. In winter, the weather is generally cool and sometimes cold and windy, but there are still sunny and mild days. Make sure to bring winter clothing, and an umbrella for rainy days.

Being one of the most famous streets in Europe, Las Ramblas is a series of five streets stretching from Plaça de Catalunya in the city centre to the Christopher Columbus Monument near the port. This is one of the busiest and most vivid streets in Barcelona and you’ll find many street performers, flower stands, and souvenir shops here. La Boqueria Market and Palau Güell, one of Gaudí’s lesser-known attractions, are also in this area!

Did you know that around a third of the population of Barcelona is made up of immigrants? That`s right! Immigration has played a key part in the economic growth of the region being recognized for its diversity inside and outside Spain.
