Using AI to Make Sense of Data — A Practitioner’s View from Regulated Finance

Organisations are drowning in data but starved of shared meaning. Drawing on work integrating fragmented data across a large post-merger financial services business, this talk examines where AI genuinely helps turn messy, ambiguous data into something trustworthy and decision-useful — and where it quietly fails. It argues that AI lowers the cost of the essential-but-tedious work of reconciliation, documentation, and first-pass analysis, while raising the value of human judgment, governance, and accountability.
