Role Summary

The International Affairs Office Manager will ensure the provision of visa support to all registered BSBI students as well as compliance with all necessary visa regulations as per German law. This position reports to the Head of Student Services and Deputy Head of Operations.

In this role you will take ownership of the visa support and compliance reporting provided by BSBI. Your tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Being the central point of contact for all student enquiries and complaints related to student visa and compliance This includes information about visas, blocked bank accounts and health insurance, as well as working rights and post-graduate residency options;
  • Managing BSBI’s existing partnership with SERS-RA GmbH, who provide immigration support services to students, and provide them with administrative support. Additionally, be a point of contact for partnerships with health insurance providers;
  • Corresponding with German authorities;
  • Direct line management of Visa and Compliance/International Affairs Officers;
  • Driving the development of BSBI’s visa support services and creating the strategy needed to meet its objectives;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive, up-to-date overview of students’ visa status to monitor compliance and ensure no student breaches visa regulations, taking action where needed;
  • Reporting students who are have not complied with visa regulations, have been withdrawn from BSBI, or received a visa to Germany but never formally registered with the college to the Berlin visa authorities;
  • Liaising with German embassies abroad upon request;
  • Be actively involved in the registration process ensuring student visas are correct, checked and uploaded into the student database in a timely fashion;
  • Assist in visa-related webinars.

Requirements

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Attention to detail is a must in this position;
  • Previous work experience in an administrative position;
  • Previous work experience in customer service;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Excellent language skills in English;
  • Native or near-native level of German.

Desired qualifications:

  • Previous experience in working with visa matters, German immigration offices and/or lawyers;
  • Previous managerial experience.
