BSBI hosts Foss FEST 2025: International Hackathon
Recently, the Berlin School of Business and Innovation, in collaboration with OpenSource Science B.V. (OS-Sci), successfully hosted Foss FEST 2025: International Hackathon.
The event was developed by Dr Farshad Badie, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, and Dr Shiv Tripathi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
Building on BSBI’s strong academic and knowledge-transfer partnership with OS-Sci, the hackathon aimed to unite talented students from universities, companies, and libraries worldwide.

The hackathon attracted nearly 600 online participants from 22 universities across the globe, making it one of the most competitive and engaging events of its kind. Participants had the opportunity to showcase their skills, develop creative solutions, and network with like-minded professionals in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment.
Dr Farshad Badie shared his thoughts on the event: “At BSBI, we champion openness, collaboration, transparency, and the accessibility of scientific resources. These principles align with the values of open science, and we look forward to further productive collaborations in the future.”
