What is Café Artistique?

Café Artistique is a live streaming format where we invite professionals form the creative industry, to discuss and talk about design topics, trends, developments and opportunities. We are committed to make design processes more tangible, to give insight into the inner workings of marketing, branding and the everchanging field of digital media.

Origin of Café Artistique

Café Artistique is an instalment derived of a worldwide “Café”-Series like called “Café Scientifique”. Café Scientifique currently exists in more than 60 towns and cities across the World. It was the idea of Duncan Dallas, from Leeds, who was impressed by the Café Philosophique session he saw in France.

With the help of Prof. Dr. Kyriakos Kouveliotis, Provost & Chief Academic Officer of BSBI and founder of Café Scientifique in Berlin, which is the only official instalment in Germany

Café Artistique was founded to create a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to discuss the latest ideas in arts, design and technology or to give insight “behind the scenes” of design processes. These meetings take place in cafes, bars, restaurants and even theatres, but always outside a traditional academic context.

Liz Fernando

Head of Academic Operations Arts

Award winning fine artist, Liz Fernando, is a graduate from the prestigious LCC, School of Media, University of Arts London. Her works were exhibited at Tate Modern London and were showcased by the leading publisher Photoworks, Brighton. Her works have been acquired for numerous private collections including the World Bank Headquarter in Washington D.C.

Her industry and educational experience in the field of Art & Design ranges from executive level agency experience at Saatchi&Saatchi global network to multinational design education institution Raffles Singapore, Asia Pacific as well as developing and conceptualising long term art educational projects in Asia for the cultural institute of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Jürn-Christian Hocke

Interim Head of Faculty of Arts

With a background in computer science and multimedia/virtual reality design and front-end development for healthcare and medical education, transport and infrastructure management and as senior creative, Jürn-Christian Hocke headed some of the most famous premium global automotive, fashion, beauty, FMCG and luxury brand campaigns.

Over the span of 15+ years he has built, trained and led teams of digital creatives at the top end of creative industry and corporate environment. He has guided tomorrow's leading creatives and innovators - both in educational institutions and corporate environments.
