Anchored by the BSBI core values – Enterprise, Leadership and Success – the Faculty of Creative Industries brings an impactful set of creative arts programmes that are not only significant to our current economy but also a promising and commercially relevant career pathway for the future.

Anticipating the demands of a digital and knowledge-based economy, the creative arts industry is in a transformative age and is becoming more valuable than ever. Modern-day artistry encompasses the ability to translate ideas to a meaningful output from visual interpretation to storytelling that automation cannot fully dictate, inspire and accomplish.

Creative innovations happen in a setting where it is encouraged and at the same time, challenged. This type of environment is provided at BSBI, encouraging our students to nurture and improve their skill set to enable them to build a thriving career in the creative economy when they graduate.


BA (Hons) Graphic Design (UCA)

The course enables you to develop your design potential whilst guided by industry experts combining your work within an extensive portfolio of powerful software skills and effective creative thinking methods in highly complex design situations enhanced by a practical, vocational approach.

This degree programme fosters an engaging and practical approach to illustration. You will be encouraged to develop your own unique approach to the subject, gaining the skills they need to thrive in their future careers.

This programme combines theory with practice and you to develop a series of short films through being taught via a blended learning approach. The curriculum incorporates latest industry technology and meets contemporary digital standards too, ensuring you are equipped with relevant software for the field.

Meet Our Faculty

Liz Fernando

Head of Academic Operations Arts

Award winning fine artist, Liz Fernando, is a graduate from the prestigious LCC, School of Media, University of Arts London. Her works were exhibited at Tate Modern London and were showcased by the leading publisher Photoworks, Brighton. Her works have been acquired for numerous private collections including the World Bank Headquarter in Washington D.C.

Her industry and educational experience in the field of Art & Design ranges from executive level agency experience at Saatchi&Saatchi global network to multinational design education institution Raffles Singapore, Asia Pacific as well as developing and conceptualising long term art educational projects in Asia for the cultural institute of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The city of Hamburg offers a great deal as an international study destination. Hamburg has a rich cultural life, whether you are looking for museums, dinner, theatre or music. Hamburg is also made up of many waterways and canals. For the adventurous types, Supper Club boat rentals offers canoes, pedal boats, kayaks and board rentals. This gives you an opportunity to explore the city at your own leisure or have a leisurely day on the canal.

BSBI Faculty of Creative Industries is located on the famous Otto von Bahrenpark areal, which is a 5 min tube ride away from the railway station, Altona. The BSBI Campus is situated in heart of the historical gas works area, Otto von Bahrenpark. This location has a long-standing historical background and serves as a perfect backdrop for a modern, exciting and inspiring creative campus.

UCA is a highly ranked creative specialist university in major domestic UK league tables. With these BSBI programmes, our students can develop and improve their skillset to enable them to build a thriving career in the creative economy when they graduate. Jürn-Christian gives a valuable insight into the industry and explains the value of studying in the prosperous city of Hamburg, which is home to leading international companies including Microsoft, Nivea and Adidas.

As a pioneer for the creative subjects and accessible education, we are delighted to be partnered with the HTK academy, offering their students the chance to enhance their creative studies with flagship programmes validated by one of the top universities in the UK, University of Creative Arts. This additional edge will internationalise the students’ degree programme, thus opening the door to many new and exciting opportunities after graduation. The programmes will be thought in the widely recognised international language English on the premises of HTK in Hamburg.
HTK is dedicated to providing their students with first rate training to ensure they thrive in their chosen fields and become the creative talent of tomorrow. In line with this vision, our new collaboration will allow HTK students to achieve a BA (Hons) in Design degree in just one year with all the necessary support from BSBI’s expert academic faculty.
BSBI will be offering affordable tuition fees to HTK students, recognising the importance of students investing in their future.
