Dr. Sergio Fuentes is a Lecturer at the Berlin School of Business & Innovation, within the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics. His professional and academic career bridges engineering, energy systems, and business strategy, with a focus on advancing sustainable and digital transitions in the global energy sector.

Before joining BSBI, Dr. Fuentes worked as an Energy Specialist Consultant at McKinsey & Company in Madrid, supporting electric and gas utility clients across Europe and the Middle East. His consulting work focused on decarbonization strategies, capital and digital transformation, and operational optimization, contributing to the integration of renewable energy sources and the acceleration of low-carbon technologies.

He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, where his research developed a multidimensional index for evaluating national energy security within the context of energy transitions. His academic background also includes a Master’s in Energy Engineering from UPC and a Bachelor’s in Mechatronics Engineering from the Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), complemented by international research experience at the Universität der Bundeswehr München and the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt in Germany.Dr. Fuentes has published several peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Energies and Renewable Energy Focus, focusing on energy security, transition policies, and sustainable power systems. His work combines technical modeling and policy analysis to help shape more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive energy frameworks worldwide.
