Germany is ranked 22nd out of 163 countries on the Global Peace Index, meaning it is generally a safe country to visit and live in. Crime rates are also declining, with figures showing that criminal offences for 2018 had decreased by 3.6% from 2017. Berlin has also been classed as safe for female and solo travellers.
The main things to be cautious of when travelling around the city are pickpockets. It’s advised not to carry valuables around with you if they aren’t necessary and to keep all of your belongings close.
