Altona Career Fair

On 23 May 2024, the UE and BSBI Careers teams organised their first-ever joint employer event in Hamburg for current students and recent alumni – the Altona Career Fair 2024.

The Fair took place at the UE campus, located in the artistic district of Altona, and twelve organisations from a wide range of sectors in attendance presented their employment opportunities to a combined group of about 150 BSBI and UE student and graduate visitors.

These participants were offered a perfect opportunity to speak to recruiters from both small and large Hamburg companies, to introduce themselves to potential future employers in the city and to expand their list of connections. A networking session with food and drinks and a CV/LinkedIn/Behance individual photoshoot were the additional highlights.

BSBI and UE Careers Teams continue to engage local companies in the creative sector in Hamburg to forge partnerships yielding internship, student and graduate work offers.

The next edition of the Fair will take place at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Hamburg on May 2026 and you are welcome to join us there.

Creative Career Guidance

We understand that choosing your professional path in the creative industries can be challenging. That is why we provide personalised support to help you reach your career aspirations. Our support includes tailored guidance on crafting your job search strategy, refining your portfolio and creative CV, building or optimising your online networking profile or a personal website as well as issuing internship letters for prospective employers.

Perfect Your Design CV and Portfolio

Our career specialists are dedicated to helping you craft a standout CV that captures the attention of employers in the creative industries. An inventive and original design resume can be the key to securing interviews and turning your applications into opportunities. Work portfolios are paramount for showcasing your creative flair and individuality and the Careers Team will guide you extensively on how to design and structure one.

Interview Preparation

In order to give our students and alumni the best chance of success in the world of work, our expert advisors offer group workshops and one-to-one appointments dedicated to enhancing their interview and presentation skills. When a student, alumnus/alumna has an upcoming interview, either in person, online or on the telephone, they can practise in a mock one with the Careers Team to improve their technique, test their answers and better prepare for the big day.

In addition to the services above, students also benefit from becoming part of our alumni network. You will be joining a group of graduates and professionals from all over the world, available to offer you support and guidance when you need it. Creative Industry Insights and Networking

Company Presentations

Company representatives from leading German and international firms are regularly invited to BSBI to present their work and organisations. The visits give students and alumni a chance to gain first-hand creative industry knowledge, learn about organisational values, find out about internship or graduate job application processes and about any open positions the companies currently recruit for.

Career Fairs

In cooperation with the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) and the HTK Academy, BSBI holds an annual Altona Career Fair every May where students and alumni network with agencies and companies, attend presentations, discuss work opportunities with the recruiting teams. CV-check sessions and professional photoshoots are also regularly offered. Attendance at the Fair is free of charge to both students and alumni and the visiting employers.

At BSBI we work directly with you as an employer to support your junior-level role recruitment.

Students at BSBI undertake degree courses which are designed with employer expectations in mind. Successful graduates leave us with a set of practical and employability skills making them ready for the demanding and fast-shifting workplace.

Tailored service from the Careers Team

Your recruitment strategy matters to us. Help us get to know your business and we will support in targeting the right potential candidates.

Support available includes online vacancy promotion, recruitment and selection assistance, on-campus employer events such as individual company presentations, on-site interviews with BSBI applicants or the annual Altona Career Fair and support to source a student for a specific project, an internship or a graduate position. All these services are free of charge to employers.
