Position:  Finance Accountant

 

About the role

  • You will be a key member of BSBI accounting team, performing accounting entries, preparing the appropriate documentation and assessing the accounting treatment of business transactions
  • You will provide support in various reporting and analysis tasks
  • You will participate in month-end closing activities and look for ways to apply your experience to ensure we continue improving and developing processes
  • Using Datev and Excel-based analysis from accounting data, you will provide the management team with financial insight and decision-making information in corporation with BSBI’s Finance Manager
  • You will work together with our tax advisers on tax matters
  • You will help align and improve our accounting system to ensure it best reflects the organization's structure
  • You will use your experience to develop meaningful ideas to implement new business procedures
  • You will be the main point of contact for auditors and payment service providers such as banks

About you

  • You are an accountant with 3+ years of professional experience in financial accounting and have passed the Bilanzbuchhalter exam
  • You have a full understanding of the requirements of German GAAP, HGB and German tax regulations
  • You have good knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience working with Datev and advanced knowledge in Excel
  • You are fluent in English and German language; English is our office language, but due to job requirements, German fluency is required
  • You are proactive: you independently take over tasks and contribute ideas to find solutions for individual problems

Role Summary

Reporting to the Management Accountant, this role will include:

  • Processing of employee expense reimbursement, credit cards, expense claims and petty cash
  • Assisting with posting payments in Data Base and bank reconciliation process
  • Perform creditor reconciliations on a regular basis
  • Liaising and resolving outstanding queries with suppliers
  • Assisting with day-to-day banking, particularly electronic banking, including online bank statements (balance and transaction enquiries) and setting up and releasing payments
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of monthly expense report
  • Assisting with all aspects of accounts receivable to include debtors’ reconciliation, payment reconciliation, posting invoices etc.
  • Other administrative duties including document profiling and filing etc.
  • Assisting Management Accountant, Financial Controller and GFD with tasks and projects as required
  • Assisting with the preparation of other ad hoc reports including preparation of budgets, and forecasts, audit queries as required

Other activities as required to support the Finance team and the wider operation in delivery, including holiday and absence cover for the other team members

Qualifications & Education

  • Competent in MS Office Software, especially MS Excel (intermediate and above level)
  • Able to analyse data and present information in a clear manner
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in German and English
  • Positive and intuitive approach to problem solving
  • A flexible approach to working and the ability to cope with frequently changing environments

You will take ownership of all HR matters across the company from recruitment to performance reviews, wage reviews, disciplinary action, and learning and development.

  • Provide strategic and operational HR support to all line managers and employees
  • advise employees and managers on our HR policies, practices, and processes
  • Handling workplace investigations, disciplinary and termination procedures, liaising with the legal department where necessary
  • Taking over and supporting various HR projects
  • Resolving conflicts through positive and professional mediation
  • Creating clear and concise reports
  • Maintaining and reporting on workplace health and safety compliance
  • Training, counselling and coaching our staff
  • Maintaining employee and workplace privacy, monitor personal data protection
  • Assisting our international team with personal visa assistance, legal and tax consulting, German law questions etc.
  • Conducting performance and wage reviews
  • Support our external payroll company in processing monthly payroll
  • Organizing team-building exercises and company events

Your Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent
  • Several years of proven experience in human resources
  • Profound understanding of the German labour law
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
  • Experience in educating and coaching staff
  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations
  • Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy
  • Ability to give presentations
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety law
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Payroll
  • Experience of working with Personio or comparable is requested
  • Professional English and German skills in written and verbal form
