Overview

Dr. Somayeh Taghvaee is a scholar and an educator in Entrepreneurship. Her research and teaching activities mainly revolve around entrepreneurship, strategy, and technological innovation. She is particularly interested in investigating how technology contributes to creating a better world for under-represented people by encouraging and facilitating entrepreneurial action and entrepreneurship education.

During my Ph.D. and Postdoc, she conducted research projects on Entrepreneurship Processes in both startups and scaleups, considering uncertainty management, effectuation, partnerships between new ventures and incumbent firms, opportunity actualization, design science approach to entrepreneurship research and education, and women entrepreneurship. Regarding methods, she has been applying both qualitative and quantitative research methods. However, she is enthusiastic about qualitative methods. Indeed, she believe in their power to conduct impactful research as they enable researchers to achieve relevant results by gaining early alignment among various stakeholders.

Beyond her research, she is a passionate teacher and role-play as a learning facilitator in the classrooms. She utilizes her creativity to offer the students an exceptional learning experience and apply techniques that inspire students to engage in learning actively. She has taught online and face-to-face courses in entrepreneurship, innovation management, strategic management, international business, and marketing management. She has been designing and teaching face-to-face and online courses applying standard entrepreneurship education tools and methods (e.g., business model canvas, lean startup, effectuation, and design thinking/ human-centric design). Moreover, She has experience teaching courses in adjacent domains such as innovation management, corporate finance, leadership, new product management, strategic management, international management, and marketing management.
